Digital Filipino Club and Bloggers Fellowship Night

I am in a busy mode @ work so I am only posting pictures from last October 25’s blog event @ the Casino Filipino, Parañaque City. Thanks, Ms. Janette Toral for holding such a wonderful event. These photos captured some of the highlights of the night.
~
A poker tournament for bloggers

after the speeches of some top 100 bloggers, red wine was served...

...and socialization went on.

My friends, Melay and Superf, won P500 worth of bet coupon each in the raffle

I got the chance to meet some fellow bloggers:

Jonel Uy of letsgosago.net

AJ Matela of baklaako.com

Fitz Villafuerte of Ready To Be Rich

And after the DigitalFilipino.com fellowship night, the four of us, Superf, Edwin, Melay and I went to the casino to play and win. Yes, you heard it right, we won. That is what you call “Beginners’ Luck”. I arrived home @ exactly 1:30am, happy and gay.

Dealing With Pain

"How do you deal with pain?" my Boss asked me.

"I try to ignore it, Sir, and enjoy life as if nothing happened," I replied.

“That’s wrong, Nice. Feel the pain. If you feel like crying, cry. It would help.

Because…

The best way to ease the pain is to stay with the pain. Time heals all wounds…

… and always remember, a broken heart is always stronger than a heart that has never been broken.”

Confession of a Blogger

I am not in the mood to work since morning, maybe because it’s already Friday.

After I finished 2 drafts of messages and a referral, all I did was stare at my monitor, blank, absorbed by the greatness of technology, online stuffs and money making websites.

Well, I think it’s more than ok. What’s important is I’ve done my job and beat my deadlines for the day.

I plead guilty: I plurked, blogged, bloghopped, friendstered, facebooked, meeboed, looked for money-making websites all day long.

Forgive me… it’s Friday, thank God.
HAPPY WEEKEND!!!

Kidlets Rock!

Nyka, 5, and Nico, 4, are cousins. Nyka goes to an exclusive kindergarten school while Nico is not yet schooling. They are both my Godchildren.

Nyka: Nico, can I borrow? (Nico is playing with his toy gun)

Nyka: Nico, Nico, can I borrow? (Nico is ignoring her as if he hears nothing)

Nyka (upset with Nico’s behavior goes to her Lola to make sumbong): Lala, Lala, si Nico oh, di nagpapahiram ng toy nya!

Lala (in a loud voice): Nico, pahiramin mo naman si Nyka nyan…

Nyka (now desperate): Nico, can I borrow?

Nico (mad and shouting): Borrow ka ng borrow! Eh hindi naman ito “borrow”! BARIL ITO! BARIL!!!

Toinkz! Hindi lang pala nya naintindihan ung salitang “borrow.” Hahaha!

Pakulo ng Anak ni Kulapo

This is an entry to the Sikatchupoy si BURAOT Contest. This is a serious competition so I am in a serious mode.
.
Participants are tasked to choose from all his posts in Anak ni Kulapo blog and write about how it influenced me and my life. Actually, I love all his posts but my most favorite of all is his Sa Kabilang Ibayo! because this was his very first blog in www.anaknikulapo.com. It was posted in September 2007 with 0 comment – a proof that he came from rugs to riches, in terms of avid readers and fans.

Sa Kabilang Ibayo! served as the spark plug for his electrifying popularity in the blogosphere, and was a way to fight homesickness during his stay in the United States of America, alone, with no friends at hand. This post is really sentimental.

At present, he has gained so many friends – Pinoy or not – in cyberspace, including some such good colleagues, regular commenters and a fans club, from which I am a member already.

Hard-earned success is long-lasting. That is what Buraot is enjoying now. And I am glad he is sharing his blessings with his blogger friends, like me, by holding contests like this.

Now, is this what you call a serious entry?
.
The not-so-serious entries are in Nicely's Reviews and Everything Nice. Please check it out, too. Thanks much!

Pantene Bloggers Nightout

What can you do in 3 minutes? That’s the theme of the Pantene’s Bloggers Nightout last October 17, 2008. Many bloggers were asked and some of their answers were: posting a new photo blog, brushing their teeth, finishing his thesis (nice one, kel!), accomplishing office works and more.

Pantene launched a new product which will enhance the condition of our hair, particularly of those who have undertaken a lot of hair coloring treatment, ironing, blow drying, spray net application, and even exposure to sun’s heat. Pantene 3-minute Miracle Treatment is a must-have for women – and men, too – because it only requires three minutes from our busy schedule to pamper our hair, our crowning glory.

All attendees got a free tube of Pantene 3-minute Miracle Treatment and the very next day, I tried it to myself. I was surprised by the result on my hair: smoother, shinier and a refreshing fragrance that last all day long.

You can buy this at leading supermarkets for a reasonable price of P299.00 only.

Nicely @ 1: Singing By the Heart

Today, October 16, is my first anniversary as a member of the Office of the President (OP) Chorale. Time runs so fast I haven’t noticed that I have survived and enjoyed a year of learning how to sing, literally speaking.

I can’t sing. That was my belief before I joined the OP Chorale. I proved myself wrong. Through a series of vocalizations, lectures on music, notes reading sessions, diaphragm exercises and live performances, I, therefore, conclude that singing is for everyone, and each of us - with determination, discipline and commitment - can excel in this field. I know I still have to learn more, though.

Happy first anniversary to me!

Weddings... Get Set... Go!!! @ Rockwell

Weddings… Get Set… Go!!! has become one of the most sought-after bridal fairs in the country and dubbed as the country’s coziest bridal fair ever. Last October 11, I went to the event with my Superfriend who plans to marry her "Bot" in 2010.

The fair was participated in by some famous gown designers such as
Edward Teng and Happy Andrada; photographers Richel Mascariñas (covered Mark Anthony Fernandez and Vandolph Quizon’s weddings), Wally Gonzales (covered Claudine Barreto, Nikki Valdez and Gladys Reyes’ weddings), Ariel Javelosa, Lito Genilo's Smart Shot Studio and Nice Print Photograph; cake artist Judy Uson; and events planner, Angel’s Wink.

Wedding reception and honeymoon venues representatives were also present at the bridal event.
Taal Vista Hotel, Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Club Punta Fuego, and Ibarra’s were a few.

It was such a successful event as a great number of soon-to-be-married ladies and men attended and registered during the event.

Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty

I know how bloggers can make a difference in our society. I have been a blogger since 2005 and I knew a lot of influential bloggers who help others cope with life's challenges. And I think, I have positively influenced other people - bloggers or not - as well.

As blogging is an effective tool to disseminate information, I am using it to make a difference, to be a catalyst for change, to be an agent of progress.

So now I am spreading the message through my blog. I want to help alleviate poverty and improve the condition of, not only Filipinos, but of the whole world. I am participating in the
Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty campaign.

If you also want to join me in this noble mission, please don't hesitate to register
HERE and let us work hand-in-hand to fight againt poverty.

M/V Doulos in Australia

A friend told me that M/V Doulos will be docking in Australia for a couple of days. I felt a sudden rush of excitement though. When the said ship visited Manila sometime in January 2007, I did not think twice. With friends to come with me, we went onboard and enjoyed the once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity of reading through and buying some of its books.

I remember writing about the trip in my old blog and I want to share
my MV Doulos experience with you. Please read on.

It was a lot of fun and it's something new for me... for the four of us (Jena, Adel, Albie and Me). I wonder when will M/V Doulos come and visit to the Philippines again. I hope it's soon.

Manila Bomb Skateboard Race

As a kid, I tried to learn skateboarding by borrowing a childhood friend's skateboard every afternoon. I didn't learn at all.

Last October 11, Superfriend and I went to a skateboarding event sponsored by Aloha Sportsboard and Sector 9. It was the first and largest convergence of Filipino skateboarders held in the country. This event proved that extreme sports and "living green" can be a logical mix. The theme, "Push Don't Pollute," encourages people to use alternative methods of transportation and underscores the need to take better care of the planet.

We arrived at Raja Sulayman past 6am and after a couple of minutes, the race started. It was seven-mile (or kilometer, I just heard it) long, finished in almost an hour and ended at Rockwell, Power Plant Mall. The winners are Gerard Cancio (men's category, he is the famous striker of the Ateneo's football team), Mika Santos (women's category) and ______ for the grommet's category (help! I didn't get the name!).

The program culminated with a series of skateboarding stunts and exhibitions, free breakfast and awarding of trophies. We also got a bag of freebies including an Aloha t-shirt and September issue of Surfer magazine.

Starting From Scratch Again

With the same reason why I left my very first blog, I am again leaving my previous blog. It really saddens me to bid goodbye to naysli.blogspot.com but I have to. I cannot get back the "layout" form anymore. It stays in the "template" style and that really sucks! I don't want to go back to the nosebleeding html codes and other brain-squeezing technical difficulties.

So, I am here now. This is my new blog. Same blog title,
new url address, new look, new posts. Stay with me until forever.
