Callao Cave is in Peñablanca, Cagayan. When you come from Tuguegarao City, it will be right before you cross the Cagayan River, and across is the town of Callao, Cagayan.
It is said that the cave has 16 chambers but the eighth and so on chambers have been closed for the public because of the presence of thousand snakes. Snakes, yaiks!
Our trip to Callao Cave was an adventure! It was dark inside and the only light we have was the sun, which comes in through some holes on the cave's ceiling. Stalagmites and stalactites, rock formations which are common in caves and are formed through centuries, are also present inside.
These is a chapel in the first chamber (Sorry, I was not able to take a good shot of it), where groups of divination gather every year, especially during Holy Week, to pray and ask for renewed power.
