It saddened and disheartened me to hear that the legendary Francis Magalona, “Master Rapper” and “King of Rap in the Philippines,” has died of Leukemia last March 6, 2009 at 12 noon.When I was just a little kid, sometime in the 90’s, I used to sing his songs, particularly the ever famous “Mga Kababayan Ko, Tayo'y Mga Pinoy, Kaleidoscope World and Ito ang Gusto Ko!” He has been an inspiration to me. His artistry and excellence in music as well as his love of country gave meaning to the lives of many Filipinos, including me.
And even while he was battling against cancer, he remained to be a guiding light to those who suffer from the same illness through his blogs and photos. Truly, Francis M will remain in our hearts and minds because of the goodness he has done for our race.
May you rest in peace, Kuya Kiko.
