On Wedding Invitations

0 comments
A wedding is one of the most treasured events in the lives of a loving couple. It needs to undergo detailed planning and preparation so that it will be perfect and will not ruin its romantic and solemn ceremony.

And one important thing to remember in planning a wedding is to make wedding invitations. At least three to four months before the wedding date, the groom and bride-to-be should prepare the list of invited guests to make sure no one will be forgotten.

Sending of invites should be done one to two months before the nuptials so that guests, especially those who are VIPs, principal and secondary sponsors, can fix their schedules ahead of time. If you have guests coming from abroad or provinces, it is better to invite them by sending the cards as soon as the wedding plans are declared fixed and final.

Do not forget to include the R.S.V.P. note in your wedding invitations to make sure the recipients confirm their attendance (or not). Please be guided that the number of seats for the guests during the rites and reception, amount of food to be served, vehicle provisions, hotel accommodation and other wedding essentials all depend on the guests’ confirmation and attendance.

I bet you do not want to deal with guests who say they will not come or they did not come because they received no invitations from you. And even your “closest friends and relatives” need to be formally invited, too, to make them feel important and needed.

Planning a wedding? You can ask for help and hire services from 123print.com. They have a variety of designs, colors, papers, and other accessories to fit in your desired and dream wedding invitations. Good luck and best wishes!

Screen Pass' Automatic Logout Feature is Just So Perfect for Me

0 comments
Are you sick of officemates who open and/or use your computer without your consent? Are you always assigned with official business tasks which require you to leave the office immediately and your computer without logging out?
The solution is here as Screen Pass, a screen locking system for Windows®, extends the capability of the standard workstation lock and gives network administrators complete control over idle workstations.

The administrator can define and configure idle period and if it exceeds, Screen Pass automatically logout if the screen saver is running and inactivity continues. This program can be set to logout, restart, shutdown, or powerdown.

However, unsaved changes in open applications are discarded during automatic logout. So you still have to save your data from time to time in order to make sure that all files are recorded before an emergency.

This is just so perfect for me. I hope our IT Department allows me to download this software. I remember one time I saw my boss in front of my computer when I came back from accomplishing an errand. I left my meebo open and worst thing was, we (my cousin and I) were talking about my rants over him. Yikes!

For more info about auto log off, please visit their website @ http://screenpass.net/.

Today is Blog Action Day 2009 | Climate Change

3 comments

Climate Change and global warming are two major concerns of the world today. That is why the blog community, through the Blog Action day, is doing its share to lessen, if not eliminate, the negative effects of these problems.

Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.

Climate change really affects the Philippines. The calamities such as typhoons, hurricanes, heat waves, and other catastrophes, are said to be caused by changing climate. Typhoons "Ondoy" and "Pepeng" had been destructive because of the great floods they brought in Metro Manila and Northern Luzon respectively. Hundreds of lives were taken and millions of properties were destroyed. Maybe it is about time we do something about it.

I hope that with this short post, I would be able to show my full support in our collective efforts to disseminate information and express our opinions about climate change. Together let us celebrate Blog Action Day today!

If the purpose of this blog complements with yours, feel free to visit the Blog Action Day official website for more details.

And the Winner for Lagawan’s Havaianas Contest Is...

2 comments
ME!!! Yehey!!! As in, super yehey!!!

Lagawan.info held a contest requiring participants to post their favorite travel photo on their blogs. And because I could not choose only one photo, I used my two other blogs to submit more entries. Thank God because it was under the "one blog:one entry" policy. The more blogs, the more entries, the more chances of winning.

I submitted 3 entries actually.

and this one taken in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

And my winning entry is this one taken in Anawangin Cove, Zambales. I submitted it through our food blog, Ano'ng Specialty N'yo? Patikim Ako, with the exact post quoted below.

"This is (again) an entry to Lagawan's "Who Wants a Havaianas FlipFlops?" contest.

The mechanics say I have to choose only one photo so I am posting this one.

A trip to Anawangin Cove, San Antonio, Zambales was a dream come true, but I never imagined it would be possible with Yobs. Yobs is a very special friend and being with him at Anawangin, enjoying the cool breeze, the wonderful scenery, the beach, the boat ride, the agujo trees, the sand, the rain (it was indeed rainy because of a typhoon), the tent, the delightful food and his officemates' company, was really unforgettable.

Do I have to say more? The photo speaks for itself.
~~~~~
I hope this entry qualifies me to win my second original Havs pair."
And yes, my hope was put into reality because I won. Super thanks to Audrey and her panel of judges for making the best choice. Now, all I have to do is wait for my second original Havs pair, which will be sent to me by Audrey at the soonest possible time. Woot!
If you want to see other bloggers' entries, please go to Lagawan's result post HERE.
To my rivals, Abbie, Monique and Mee-i, ok lang yan. Better luck next time. Ipaubaya nyo na sa akin ang Havs FlipFlops na ito. What are friends for? Love ko naman kayo eh at alam kong love nyo din ako, di ba? *group hug* :D
Happy Birthday, Superfriend!
7 comments
October 12, 2009
Dearest Superfriend Edel,
Happy birthday! It has been 10 years since we met in college, during our Iska days, and now we are still holding on (parang mag-dyowa lang ah!). Now is your 10th birthday with me as your superfriend and I am happy for that.
Thanks for the great friendship, Superf. You never know how important you are to me. Remember when I told you that we shouldn't call each other "bestfriends"? That is because we really are not, we are more than just bestfriends. We are "Superfriends" in the most unique and deepest sense only "the two of us" can ever understand.
And because it is your birthday today, I want to reflect on things that make me love you more. Here, read on...
*We have been through a lot. Although we never had a big fight. Yes, we had misunderstandings sometime ago, but these were only for some petty and childish reasons, which made us stronger today.
*We are partners in crime. Hmmm... The Baguio City trip, remember? No need to elaborate further. Baka mabisto tayo... (Pabulong) Hahaha!
*We are the videoke duo. And take note, we are always winning... Iba na talaga ang mahigpit ang pangangailangan! Lol.
*You introduced blogging to me. I owe you one, Superf! And thanks for the http://www.iamnicely.com/ domain as a birthday gift to me last year :D
*I found a sister in you. I most felt it during our BH years. I miss the times we had breakfast together, handwashed clothes together, cleaned the room together, shared dinner together, shopped and windowshopped together until SM's closing time, watched horror movies together and afterwards nagpapasama na ako sa iyo sa cr at nakikisabay na sa pagtu-toothbrush dahil sa sobrang takot, walked our way to the office in the morning, jogged and briskwalked from MalacaƱang to CCP, made our controversial "Push the Button" video, and the list goes on...
*I missed the times you sleep over in our house in Cavite. When will that happen again, Superf?
*I love it when you give me unsolicited but good pieces of advice when it comes to career, family, social life, blogging and lovelife... Sometimes, your words hurt but that is one proof they're true. Thanks for making me realize the things I can't and don't wanna see :D
I still have a long list of our friendship memories and treasures. And I am hoping for more to come. This friendship - our superfriendship - will definitely last a lifetime. I am sure of that, I hope you are, too.
I love you, Superf! May you always be happy and growing... Mabuhay ka!
Krispy Kreme to Raise Funds for "Ondoy" Survivors
0 comments
Krispy Kreme Philippines is one with the country during this time of need - giving priority to seeking ways by which they can provide assistance to those who have been affected by Typhoon Ondoy.
Among one of the most immediate actions they have taken was to give away free doughnuts to typhoon victims and relief operation volunteers.
But as the past days have shown, no one could do it alone. That is why they are encouraging everyone to help them in their fund raising efforts to provide relief for Ondoy victims, by simply purchasing an Original Glazed doughnut this coming Sunday, October 11, 2009. For every Original Glazed doughnut you buy, the sale will automatically go to Krispy Kreme's relief fund which will distributed to the Philippine National Red Cross-Rizal Chapter and ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya.
Krispy Kreme is inviting you to join hands with them in rising from this occasion and prove that heroism is truly a Filipino trait.
You may visit the following stores on October 11 to join the fund raising - Bonifacio High Street, SM Megamall, Greenhills Drive-Thru, Trinoma Mall, SM Mall of Asia Main Mall and Drive-Thru, Robinsons Galleria, Gateway Mall Ground Floor and Cinema Level, Glorietta 4, The Annex SM North EDSA, SM Fairview Annex.
Sleepy Nicely
0 comments
Yobs and I dated at MOA last night. First, we had our dinner at Mann Hann and ordered fish fillet with mushrooms and broccoli, duck misua, 2 cups of rice each and a pitcher of honey lemon iced tea. Afterwards, we proceeded to the moviehouse to watch our most-awaited movie of the month, G-Force. We wanted to see it on IMAX but it is not yet offered there. We even tried to watch it in 3d but we came late. Yeah, we're the unlucky ones. We had no choice but to have it in regular cinema. Those guinea pigs were so funny and cute and I love 'em all! Nevertheless, watching it on IMAX or in 3d is not really worth the costly price.
We arrived home @ 11:30 PM, watched ABS-CBN's "I Survived" until we got sleepy at 1:30AM and woke up at 3:30AM to prepare for work. I even haven't slept while we were on the OP shuttle service, which I normally and habitually do. Yobs kept me awake; there were so many things to talk about.
When we arrived in MalacaƱang @ 6AM, even my plan to sleep in the office for an hour or two wasn't a good idea because we consensusly decided to go to Mcdonalds-Mendiola to have breakfast together. And the chitchat continued until 7:15AM.
Back at work, I am "SLEEPY NICELY" now... but honestly? I really had a super-duper-extra-great time!
Home Insurance: Is It Really Necessary?
2 comments
We never know what will happen next until we are there.
Calamities and accidents, either man-made or natural, are occurrences that we should prepare for. In Australia, there are many insurance agents and companies offering their products and services to people who want get hold of their properties and assets during times of emergencies.
One of these companies is Zippy, a place to go for home and contents insurance. Zippy does all the legwork for you, just fill in one form and they will return you quote estimates from all the top home insurance companies in Australia.
We also need to avail of home insurances here in the Philippines. Although a number of middle-class to elite families have their homes insured already, others just do not care at all.
Let us take Typhoon Ondoy as an example of an unexpected tragedy. It took a great number of innocent lives and damaged millions of properties, particularly in Pasig, Marikina and some parts of Metro Manila. If only the survivors have prepared for it; if only they have home insurances, they could have lightened the burden that they are carrying now.
Now tell me, is home insurance really necessary? It is up to you to decide now before it gets too late.
Great Business Cards and Address Labels Designs by 123Print.com
0 comments
As a professional working in the highest office in the Philippines that is MalacaƱang, and as a professional blogger wannabe just starting to learn the tricks of marketing and networking, having business cards in hand is an essential.
For many times, I have been caught in a situation where new found colleagues asked for my calling card but had nothing to give. It was really embarrassing – in its simplest but worst sense. Just then I realized that I need this kind of stuff in order for me to be identified by prospective clients and be remembered by friends.
Last night, when I was browsing the internet, I found the website of 123Print.com, which offers a bunch of business cards of different designs, shapes, sizes and colors. I like their innovative and stylish products so much that I am planning to order more than a dozen as soon as I get my Christmas bonus.
But what really caught my attention are their
address labels, which you can stick on the upper left corner of mailing envelopes. The website has an editing section where you can personalize the items, and I tried it myself. Below is my finished product.
I just thought ordering return address labels online from 123Print is very timely because Christmas season is about to begin. I can use the return address labels in sending holiday greeting cards via postal mail. Yes, you heard it right, I still prefer snail mailing greeting cards because I feel that it is more personal on my part and on the recipient’s as well.
123Print.com also offers wedding invitations, car magnets, calendars, postcards, letterheads, envelopes, memo pads, banners and other print-related products. You can visit www.123print.com for more information.
Animal Welfare Jobs Website, A Review
0 comments
A friend in the States told me that she is currently looking for work. I asked her that since she loves animals, why not try looking for a job that she has a heart for? With a job that she passionately loves, I am sure that she will not regret it.
Then she sent me a link of a website which offers animal welfare jobs in the US. I reviewed the site and think there is nothing to lose if she tries it. There are so many jobs available – animal vets, animal doctors, animal caretakers, administrative staff, inventory clerks and all – which I happened to check through the help of the website's search engine. The animal welfare jobs website is really helpful for those unemployed individuals who want to earn money while doing what they really love.
I just hope that my friend finds a good job in the animal welfare industry. She deserves it.
I Am So Happy With My Clinique Happy!
0 comments
Clinique Happy Perfume Spray is my favorite perfume so far. It was given to me by Sister Jena when she sent a package for the family from the land down under.
Being a lady who is always on the go, Clinique Happy’s combination of citrus and floral scents gives me a feeling of freshness that makes me confident all day and all night long.
Some perfumes and colognes create a stinging smell when mixed with sweat and I hate it, especially that I am acidic. But with Clinique Happy, there is no awkward moment. I always feel comfortable, beautiful and sexy from inside and out.
I am so happy with my Clinique Happy! Swear!
If you like the scent of Clinique Happy too, then you might want to try Demeter's Cannabis Flower Cologne. Check it out at weed perfume.
What You Should Have in Case of a Typhoon
2 comments
Typhoon Ondoy has been so devastating not only to those who were victims of flood in Pasig, Rizal and some parts of Metro Manila, but to all of us as a country. It really breaks my heart to see on tv and here in MalacaƱang, where some evacuees are presently being accomodated, how damaging Ondoy was to Filipinos.
A father and his son walking their way to a safer place during typhoon Ondoy (Photo Source)
And now, another typhoon is expected to come into the country and is said to be a stronger one, being a super typhoon, than Ondoy. This super typhoon, Pepeng, has 175 to 21o kph of winds (Ondoy has only 85) and categorized in Hurricane 5 strength.
.
During times like this, we have to really be prepared. Here is a list of things of what we should have before, during and after calamities like this.
1. Food. Always make sure you have enough food supply in your storage during typhoons. Grocery and sari-sari stores might close if floods get in the way. Cooked, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat foods, like canned goods, noodles, oatmeal and biscuits, are must-haves.
2. Water. When electricity is cut and/or there is a flood already, authorities might also cut the supply of water. It is better to stock clean and potable water for the whole family's consumption until the supply resumes. Note that during times like this, people badly need food, water and other essentials, so better buy them ahead of time before they run out of stock.
3. Emergency Lights. Rechargeable lights and batteries, as well as candles, lighters and matches, are also essential. Prepare for brownout and blackout situations.
4. Medicines and First Aid Kit. Always keep a medicine box and first aid kit section at home. Sickness, disease and other emergencies might happen in the middle of a storm. It would be better if you have stocks of medical supplies in your house so you can treat yourself and other family members even without the presence of a doctor. However, you should be careful and responsible in giving medications. Make sure you know what you are doing. Making a list of the items and their prescriptions is highly recommended.
5. Emergency Hotlines. Yes, it is important to take note of emergency hotlines and mobile numbers of departments and individuals to call in case of emergency. Keep a copy of the contacts' list, including police, fire protection, coast guard, hospitals, some local officials in your area, and other forces who can help you in times of need.
6. Life Vests/Rubber Boats (if any)/other Life-Saving and Floating Devices. Expect heavy amount of rainfall and floods. Learn the lessons from Ondoy and get your life savers up for grab.
I hope that I were able to help you with these tips. This is just a short list of essentials during a storm. There are many other things that we need to think about and do to ensure our safety. Let us all be diligent, responsible, cautious and firm in making our decisions - for ourselves, for our families and for our kababayans.
~~~~~
If you think that I miss something here, feel free to comment on this post and add your tips, suggestions, advice and reactions regarding typhoon essentials. Thank you and let us all be safe.

I Love Palawan!

6 comments
This is my entry to Lagawan's "Who Wants a Havaianas FlipFlops?" contest.

Honestly, I have many favorite travel photos but since Audrey require only one, I am posting a photo taken during my 2-day and 1-night stay in Coron, Palawan. I so so love this picture in Kayangan Lake because it looks very candid.
My trip to Coron was really memorable because it was the first time I traveled without a chaperone, though I had a friend with me (Hi, Mich!). We stayed in Kokusnuss Resort and for two days, we tripped all over Coron, including the Twin Lagoon, Banol Beach, Kayangan and Barracuda Lakes, Maquinit Hotspring and Mt. Tapyas. The island hopping, swimming and hiking activities were tiring but it was totally fun.
